From Lucknow, the Prince travelled to Delhi, arriving on 11 January. Delhi had been an important political capital for many empires in India, including the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughals. During the Prince’s six-day stay, he visited numerous grand and historical monuments such as the Qutb Minar, the world's tallest brick tower made of marble and sandstone. Construction of the tower commenced in 1200ad and continued into the fourteenth century. During his visit, the Prince climbed to the top of the Qutb Minar to see the views of the city.
