HENRY PIERCE BONE (1779-1855)

Prince Edward, Duke of Kent (1767-1820)

Signed and dated 1841

Queen Victoria was a keen patron of miniaturists, commissioning many works from a variety of different artists. Her collection comprised depictions of family members, friends, retainers and figures from royal history. This miniature copies a full-length portrait of the Duke of Kent, the Queen's father, who died when she was an infant, and was undoubtedly of particularly personal significance.
