MARY MOSER (1744-1819)

A Bunch of Flowers

1792-97

RCIN 402459

Flowers have become a staple of Valentine's Day celebrations, and this arrangement was painted in the 1790s by Mary Moser (1744–1819).

Moser was an artist working in Britain during the eighteenth century, and was one of two female founding members of the Royal Academy. Particularly celebrated as a flower painter, Moser was commissioned by Queen Charlotte to create a series of paintings to decorate what is now known as the 'Mary Moser Room' at Frogmore House, Windsor.
