This magnificent suit of armour was presented to Henry, Prince of Wales (1594-1612), the elder son of King James VI & I and Anne of Denmark, by Sir Henry Lee (1533-1611), Elizabeth I’s Champion and Master of the Ordnance.

Armour such as this played an important role in the display and pageantry of the sports field. Henry, Prince of Wales was a keen sportsman and an enthusiastic participant at jousting tournaments.
