This double portrait by the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) shows Prince Albert (later King George VI) wearing highland dress and standing next to Mary, Princess Royal (1897–1965). The photograph was taken next to the main entrance of Balmoral Castle, the Scottish home of the Royal Family since 1852. Both the Prince of Wales and Prince Albert's collected picture postcards and the Royal Collection holds many of their surviving childhood postcard albums.
