This group of 33 German medals were intercepted by the British Postal Censorship between 1915 and 1917. Some of these medals commemorated fallen war heroes or particular victories. Others, particularly those designed by Karl Goetz, expressed satirical messages using colourful imagery. The medal above celebrates the use of zeppelins in war with a bust of Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin on one side and a zeppelin bombing raid on the reverse.
