Press interest in George IV's renovation project was intense. However, reports were often remarkably inaccurate thanks to the strict limits on access during the alterations. As the cost of the project spiralled, the Windsor & Eton Express told its readers that furniture from Morel and Seddon – such as this sofa – was 'of such costly materials and manufacture, that the charge will be little short of the price of the same in solid silver!'
