Dutch Recipients of the Order of the Garter
The Order of the Garter is the most prestigious order of chivalry in England. Appointed at the Sovereign’s own discretion, there can only be 24 Knights or Companions of the Order at any given time, excluding The Queen and The Prince of Wales. However, The Queen can appoint supernumerary, or ‘Stranger Knights’, often foreign monarchs or other members of the Royal Family. This honour has been extended to members of the Dutch Royal Family for over four hundred years.
