Anglo-Dutch relations in the twentieth century

The close relationship between Britain and The Netherlands is reflected in the large number of visits made in both directions between the two countries. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has made one State Visit to the Netherlands, in 1958, and several Royal Visits throughout her reign. In return, Queen Juliana visited in 1972 and Queen Beatrix in 1982. In the Second World War, Queen Wilhelmina found a welcome in exile in Britain, and forged a close working relationship with King George VI.

This relationship is also evident in the close personal ties between the two royal families, and the gifts that have been exchanged.
