Soft-paste Sèvres porcelain mortier. Beau bleu ground decorated with tooled gilt foliate scrolls, floral wreaths, trails and crossed branches; two oval reserves painted with scenes from classical Greek and Roman history and mythology. The reserves depict Psyche complaining to Venus that her son has abandoned her and Renaud chained by Armida.
