From its foundation in 1768, the Royal Academy of Arts has had a long and illustrious association with the monarchy. This publication records the Royal Academy’s gift to Her Majesty The Queen to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee – more than one hundred works on paper by the Academicians, from traditional drawings, watercolours and etchings, to acrylics, screenprints, collages and even an iPad drawing.
It demonstrates the unsurpassed vitality of the Royal Academy, and includes works by Tracey Emin, David Hockney, Anish Kapoor, Richard Long, Zaha Hadid, Grayson Perry and many others.
Martin Clayton is Head of Prints and Drawings, Royal Collection Trust. He has published extensively on the drawings in the Royal Collection.
