NORMA BULL (1906-80)

Rocket bomb exploding in the air over London

1945

RCIN 453576

Bull’s work is characterised by a cartoon-like quality, particularly evident in the exuberant plume of smoke which billows over the neat rows of houses in this watercolour. This image of wartime London is one of a group which Queen Elizabeth purchased from an exhibition of Bull’s work shortly after the end of the war.
