ARTHUR HENDERSON HALL (1906- )

Dorset quarry

1961

RCIN 453543

An illustrator and teacher, Arthur Henderson Hall was elected to the Royal Watercolour Society in 1958. The luminous, rapidly-applied washes used in his depiction of a windswept and rugged landscape suggest the artist's delight in the physical properties of the medium. Queen Elizabeth purchased this watercolour from an exhibition at the Royal Watercolour Society, of which she was Patron, in 1961.
