Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visiting the Irish Industrial Exhibition, Dublin

dated 30 Aug 1853

Watercolour and bodycolour with gum arabic over pencil | 32.5 x 46.0 cm (sheet of paper) | RCIN 920229

In August 1853 Victoria and Albert visited the Irish Industrial Exhibition, to which they had loaned several works of art. Hayes does not depict the royal couple but rather the onlookers, soldiers and policemen outside the purpose-built exhibition building awaiting their exit.
