This classic form of vase, designed by the Berlin court architect K.F. Schinkel in 1830, proved highly successful and a large number were made for presentation to foreign rulers. In this case the body presents a continuous harvest landscape, while the vignettes around the bowl represent royal palaces in the vicinity of Potsdam.

Presented to Queen Victoria by King Frederick William IV of Prussia in 1845
