Tankard

This tankard was presented during the visit of the Prince and Queen Victoria to France in 1855. The superb carving of horses running through a forest was the work of an Austrian ivory-carver who produced several works for Emperor Napoleon III and his wife.

Presented to Prince Albert by the Empress Eugénie on his birthday, 26 August 1855
