Rot Käppchen or Red Riding Hood

The royal children performed Red Riding Hood for their parents’ wedding anniversary in February 1855. Twelve days later they repeated their performance, adding this final ensemble. As drawing tutor to the royal children, Corbould was the obvious choice to paint the scene.

Commissioned by Prince Albert and presented to Queen Victoria on her birthday, 24 May 1855
