This rare portrait of the carefree eighteen-year-old Prince in Rome was made during his five-month student tour of Italy. Queen Victoria kept the bust by the desk in her Sitting Room at Buckingham Palace. 

Commissioned by Prince Albert in March 1839 and presented to Queen Victoria in December 1839
