    This was a christening gift from Queen Victoria to her grandson and godson Prince Albert Victor, eldest son of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales. The biblical verses and poetry around the plinth exhort the young prince to follow in his grandfather’s path.

    Commissioned by Queen Victoria and presented to Prince Albert Victor in January 1865
