CG KOENIG & SON : COBURG

Pair of percussion pistols

1750 - 1890

RCIN 62608

The allied traditions of hunting and marksmanship made Coburg an important centre for gun-making.  Koenig & Sons were court rifle-makers to the Dukes of Saxe-Coburg for two generations. These pistols with their engraved silver Gothic revival inlays were shown at the Great Exhibition, where Prince Albert bought them.

Purchased by Prince Albert in 1851

Nos 203 and 202
