Osborne: the Council Room

dated 1861

The Council Room was used for meetings of the Privy Council when the Queen was at Osborne. It was decorated in 1859–60 by the Berlin artist A. Müller, under the guidance of Gruner and Prince Albert. The Axminster carpet had been displayed at the Great Exhibition. Landseer’s painting The Deer Drive is reflected in the mirror over the fireplace.
