Morning in the Highlands: The Royal Family ascending Lochnagar

The royal party, led by the Prince on horseback, is shown climbing Lochnagar on the Balmoral estate. Haag visited Balmoral in autumn 1853 and his work was closely supervised by the Prince. His pictures of life at Balmoral were exhibited in London in 1854 to widespread praise.
