Pan and Syrinx

This story from Ovid’s Metamorphoses tells of Pan’s pursuit of the wood nymph, Syrinx. Just as the lustful god thought he had caught his prey, she was transformed into tall reeds, which Pan used to make a musical instrument – the pan pipes.
