      Narcissus

      1845

      RCIN 69002

The beautiful hunter Narcissus paused one day by a fountain and fell in love with his own reflection. Unable to speak to his beloved, he shed tears which disrupted the vision, and he eventually died of a broken heart. On his death he was transformed into a narcissus flower, seen here against the tree stump.
