WILLIAM HENRY PYNE (1769-1843)

Album containing original watercolours made for The History of the Royal Residences

c 1815-19

RCIN 970355

Bound in red goatskin, blind and gold tooled with large square corner pieces. This volume originally contained the watercolours for the plates in Pyne’s 'Royal Residences' (published in 1819), which illustrated both interiors and exteriors of the occupied royal residences, including a number of those relating to Carlton House. Pyne was responsible for the text and commissioned other artists to provide the 100 illustrations. The three volumes were dedicated to Queen Charlotte, the Prince Regent and the Duke of York.
