BENJAMIN LEWIS VULLIAMY (1780-1854)

Mantel clock

1800-10

RCIN 2764

Apollo was believed by the Romans to be the god of the sun. Each day was marked by his emergence from the sea and his journey across the sky in his golden quadriga – a chariot drawn by four horses abreast – a cycle illustrated vividly by this clock.
