Title deed for George III’s purchase of Buckingham House, 1763

Buckingham House was purchased by George III in 1762, primarily as a private family home for his consort, Queen Charlotte, and their children.

It was transformed into a Palace during the reign of George IV, and has been the official London residence of the Sovereign since the reign of Queen Victoria.
This deed of 1763 completed the purchase of Buckingham House from Sir Charles Sheffield, for the sum of £28,000.
