The Royal Family on board HMY Britannia

Aug 1985

RCIN 2200044

This photograph was taken on board HMY Britannia in August 1985, when several members of the Royal Family had joined The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh for their Western Isles cruise in Scotland. This annual cruise enabled The Queen and her family to enjoy a few days away from the constant demands of public engagements and visitors, while exploring some of the more remote areas of Scotland. Pictured from left to right are Princess Margaret, Prince Andrew, The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, Peter Phillips, Prince Edward, Princess Diana holding Prince William, Prince Charles holding Prince Harry, Princess Anne and Zara Phillips. ‘Snaps’ was the name given to the Royal Yachtsman whose role was to keep a photographic record of special events aboard HMY Britannia.
