Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire has been one of the private residences of the British Royal Family since 1852, when it was purchased by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. It remains the private property of the monarch, and every year The Queen and her family enjoy several weeks’ holiday there during the summer.
