RCIN 2943877

The Queen is Patron of the Royal Windsor Horse Show, which is held annually in May or June in Windsor Home Park. The first Royal Windsor Horse Show was held in May 1944, and although it was just a one-day event it attracted 8,000 spectators. Such was its popularity that in 1947 the show was extended to three days, finally evolving into the five-day event that it is today. It is widely regarded as an important national sporting event with the Royal Family taking a great interest, both as spectators and as participants.
