The Queen has been closely involved with the Royal Windsor Horse Show since its foundation in 1944 and attends this annual event regularly. Both The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh have been competitors. The Duke has competed in carriage-driving events, and in 1944 The Queen, with Princess Margaret as a passenger, won the Single Private Driving Class in a pony phaeton built for Queen Victoria.
