REGINALD DAVIS (B. 1925)

The Queen at the Hyde Park Hotel

25 Mar 1959

RCIN 2943866

The Queen became Colonel-in-Chief of the 16th/5th Lancers in 1947. In 1954, after her Accession to the throne, the regiment was renamed 16th/5th The Queen’s Royal Lancers. In 1959 The Queen was invited to the regiment’s Banquet and Ball at the Hyde Park Hotel in London, where she is pictured here. In 1993, as part of the reduction in forces after the end of the Cold War, the regiment amalgamated with the 17th/21st Lancers to form The Queen’s Royal Lancers.
