The costumes were supplied by two firms, H&M Rayne and L&H Nathan. Rayne were founded in 1899 as a theatrical costumier and later diversified into fashion shoes from the 1920s. L&H Nathan were established as court and theatrical costumiers in 1790 and supplied the Royal Family from the reign of Queen Victoria.

The princesses also wore some of their own clothes for certain scenes, including day and evening ensembles created by the British couturier Norman Hartnell. The firms of Leichner and Nathanwigs supplied greasepaint and wigs.
