ALBRECHT DÜRER (1471-1528)

A woman abducted by a man on a unicorn

1516

RCIN 800082

This is one of only six surviving etchings by Dürer. The print, showing the abduction of an unidentified woman, may demonstrate why Dürer abandoned etching, which did not allow him to achieve the variety of line, texture and tone that he could obtain with engraving.
