These two pairs of figures are probably independent of each other. The couple on the left have been connected with an unfinished series on ‘the happy marriage’ while the two figures on the right may be an early idea for the doctors in plate five of A Harlot’s Progress. Purchased by Queen Victoria in 1845 Cat. 82
