This beautiful trompe l’oeil may have been a gift to George III as it includes an appeal to him to visit Hanover (bottom right). Prominent among the items which appear to be piled at random is a plan of Krefeld the site of an allied victory against the French. Schilling, who signed this drawing, was a captain in the Hanoverian army. King’s Military Map Collection Cat. 71
