J.F.C. Schilling (active 1737-67)
Map of Krefeld, 1758 (Krefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) 51°20'00"N 06°34'00"E 1767

This beautiful trompe l’oeil may have been a gift to George III as it includes an appeal to him to visit Hanover (bottom right). Prominent among the items which appear to be piled at random is a plan of Krefeld the site of an allied victory against the French. Schilling, who signed this drawing, was a captain in the Hanoverian army.
