FREDERICK, PRINCE OF WALES (1707 – 51)

Letter regarding the King

15 Sept 1737

This letter was probably written to Edward Seymour, later 8th Duke of Somerset. Frederick was high in public favour after the birth of his daughter Augusta, but had fallen out badly with his father by insisting that the birth take place at St James’s Palace, away from court. The accompanying account ‘of the King’s displeasure with me’ does not survive.
