SIR EDWIN LANDSEER (1803-73)

Windsor Castle in modern times; Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and Victoria, Princess Royal

1841-43

RCIN 406903

Prince Albert returns from shooting; his wife welcomes him home with a nosegay; their daughter plays with a ‘Halcyon’ – a symbol of peace. Through the window we see the East Terrace of Windsor Castle and Queen Victoria’s mother, the Duchess of Kent, enjoying a circuit in a bath chair. Modern times means model lives.
