SIR EDWIN LANDSEER (1803-73)

Queen Victoria at Loch Laggan

Sep 1847Dec 1847

RCIN 403119

Many conversation pieces allude to the sitters’ love of nature (usually in the form of gardens or parklands). Landseer here shows Queen Victoria’s reverence for the ‘real’, wild nature of the Highlands, which he has so magnificently painted.
