JOHAN JOSEPH ZOFFANY (FRANKFURT 1733-LONDON 1810)

George, Prince of Wales, and Frederick, later Duke of York, at Buckingham House

1765

RCIN 404709

This scene takes place in Queen Charlotte’s apartments of Buckingham House, recently acquired and re-decorated. There is nothing to suggest that these two children are Princes, unless it is the similarity between them and Van Dyck’s portrait of the children of Charles I hanging on the wall behind.
