The binding carries the arms of Pope Clement XI (reigned 1700-21), who bequeathed his huge art collection to his nephew, Cardinal Alessandro Albani. In 1762 George III bought most of Albani’s collection of drawings and prints, including many of the Baroque drawings in this exhibition.
