PIETRO BEMBO (1470-1547)

Historiae Venetae libri XII

1551

RCIN 1081253

This mid-sixteenth-century binding is in a sober Renaissance style more common around 1500, with three concentric rectangles of repeated small stamps. The author and title have been tooled in gold on the back board and written on the fore-edge, indicating that the book was intended to be stored flat with the fore-edge outermost.
