PERSIAN
Shamshar and scabbard
RCIN 11350
The chased scrolling foliage and birds on the scabbard of this sword repeats a popular design employed by the metalworkers of Cutch. By the midnineteenth century, these designs were also used to embellish silverware intended for the European market such as tea sets, pepper pots and tankards.
