The dwarf Vamana, the fifth avatar of Vishnu, stands before the demon King Bali and his wife, seated on the left. To the right stands Shukra, Bali’s guru and advisor who has recognised Vamana's true identity as Vishnu. Lying on the ground before them is the sacred white Nandi Bull, representing sacrifice.
