Princess Elizabeth Albertina was Queen Charlotte's mother and this painting forms part of a group commissioned by Queen Charlotte from Ramsay of portraits of her family. It is a posthumous portrait, as the Princess died in 1761, and some of the features were based on a portrait of the Princess by Daniel Woge in the Royal Collection, which Ramsay would have seen. Probably painted for Queen Charlotte
