Prince George Augustus was the younger brother of Queen Charlotte. The Prince came to London in 1768 and it was probably at this time that Ramsay painted his portrait. He is shown wearing the uniform of an officer of the Cuirassiers of the 4th Regiment of Austrian-Salzburg Dragoons, or 'Serbellonis'. Probably painted for Queen Charlotte
