IMPERIAL PORCELAIN FACTORY [ST PETERSBURG] (C. 1718-1917)

The Cameo Service dinner plate

c.1855-82

RCIN 58640

This dinner plate is a replacement piece made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St Petersburg for the vast service ordered by Catherine the Great from the Sèvres porcelain factory in France in 1776. The original service was the most expensive created at Sèvres in the eighteenth century. The Russian pieces are exact copies of the originals and were made for Emperor Nicholas I.
