Snuffboxes applied with the miniature portrait of the Emperor were presented as luxurious official gifts both in Russia and also, such as this example, to foreign recipients.

  • Fabergé maker's mark: surname 'FABERGÉ' in Cyrillic characters (articles made in his workshops or retailed by him in St. Petersburg).
