The Fabergé firm supplied the imperial family with large quantities of frames for photographs, partly due to the popularity of the medium and their desire to be surrounded by family images in their private apartments.
Fabergé maker's mark: surname 'FABERGÉ' in Cyrillic characters (articles made in his workshops or retailed by him in St. Petersburg).
