Alexander Strachan’s richly decorated gold box incorporates a medallion with the portrait of Empress Elizabeth by the French medallist Dassier. The medal was struck in 1754 to mark the foundation of Moscow University.

Purchased by Queen Mary and given to King George V, 1933
